Welcome to Social Safety Nets Project

Social Safety Nets Project (SSNP) Implemented by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) under the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL). The ministry has established a Project Management Unit(PMU) with support from the Welfare Benefits Board (WBB) to execute the project. The SSNP is funded by the world Bank under achievements of Disbursement- Linked Indicators (DLIs). The cost of SSNP is estimated 75 USD million. The project is being implemented from 2017 to 2022. The SSNP will assist the Government of Sri Lanka contribute to the Improved equity, efficiency and transparency of Sri Lanka’s social safety net programs for the benefit of the poor and vulnerable. This project has three components.

Building a Unified Social Registry

The Core of the reformed welfare system will be a unified social registry containing data on all current and former program beneficiaries and new applicants.

Intergrated Service Delivery Systems

Will finance the Eligible Expenditure Program (EEP) against achievement of disbursement –linked indicators (DLIs) related to the collection of data on current beneficiaries and new applicants of programs under the Welfare Benefit Scheme (WBS), as well as to the development of an Integrated Management Information System (MIS) for the harmonized management of programs.

Project Implementation, Monitoring and Planning

Will support the establishment of the Welfare Benefits Board and Project Management Unit and use of the new system for monitoring and longer – term strategic Planning.
